Spring House Cleaning Checklist, Schedule, Services, Supplies & Tips
The days are getting longer, the sun is getting stronger
and the natural world is looking fresher with every passing day. If you
are less than perfect in your daily cleaning routines (like many of
us), a Spring cleaning checklist is the smartest way
to
get started.
After all, that extra light is probably showing you a few things you liked not seeing (I mean besides the added holiday pounds – AHHH!). A cobweb here, a heel mark there is usually just the beginning. If you are reading this, then the winter feeling is slipping away and energy for all those little cleaning jobs is bubbling up. Don’t rush it, though. Preparing properly on how to best plan for your Spring cleaning will get the most out of that rush of enthusiasm. Here is some house cleaning checklist items to “Get…” you started.

- Get me some help! If you don’t have time to go through the house cleaning checklist yourself, that is no problem at all. There are plenty of house cleaning services that you can choose from. Keep in mind though, house cleaning is not limited to just inside the house, you might need handymen to do some of the outside work as well. When figuring out what to tackle first, it starts with getting organized!
- Get organized. Before you launch the big drive, take a deep breath and make a house cleaning checklist of your most important to-do’s. A list or schedule isn’t going to fix anything but it will get you thinking about what needs to be done. Try looking in every room and coming up with a house cleaning schedule. Work out what you will need in terms of tools and resources. Starting a job and then realizing that you don’t have what you need to finish can drive anyone crazy. If you can’t step foot in “there”, then you need to do this next step asap!
- Get it out of here. Spring cleaning is not limited to dirt, it also includes clutter. Our lives things we don’t use and too often can end up dominating our living space. If your house is cluttered, think about some new storage containers if you need it, if it is valuable either donate or sell it and finally the one most things apply to…if it is junk, just throw it away! The less clutter in your home, the easier it is to clean and keep your house clean. Also, if you do hire house cleaning services to help, you can expect to pay more if there is any clutter in the way.
Spring House Cleaning
Tips - Schedule - Checklist

House Cleaning Tips #1 - Grime and grit can make you lose your wit!
Kitchen cleaning is always the toughest job, especially oven cleaning. The best tip is to let the cleaning supplies do the work. Whatever you are using, spray, spread or pour the product on tough grime and let it work for as long as it needs to soften up that dirt.
House Cleaning Tips #2 - Windows and carpets and blinds, oh my.
These are like the holy grail of the Spring cleaning checklist. Everybody notices these first when they walk into your house and they are a great place to start.- Clean windows when there is no direct sunlight on the glass and streaks will be easier to avoid.
- Steam cleaning carpets is often best left to a carpet cleaning
services
professional but if you want to do it yourself, you can always rent the
machine from a local (typically a grocery store) establishment.

- If do decide on hiring a carpet cleaning services, make sure you get all the rooms cleared before you bring someone in (you already know that from reading the above mentioned guides of course). You don’t want to keep a machine that extra day and pay double!
- I won’t lie to you, blind cleaning can take a lot of time. Wrap a cloth around a ruler and use this to clean from one end of a slat to the other. If you want to shell out a few extra dollars, you can purchase one of those magic wands you see on the infomercials.

House Cleaning Tips #3 - Ripping out your (pet) hair?
Regularly schedule combing pets outside the home or on newspaper is the best way to reduce animal hair problems at any time of the year. This can cut down your need for an upholstery cleaning service as well reducing pet allergy problems. Most importantly, you won’t be ripping out your hair because of your pet hair problem!House Cleaning Tips #4 - Inside > Out.

There is unfortunately just as much to be done on the outside as the inside.
- Gutters is a great outdoor task to start with when working on your house cleaning schedule. Best to do gutter cleaning twice a year, in late Spring and Fall. If you let a gutter or downspout get clogged it can leak as rainwater backs up. This can mean stained walls outside and damp problems inside; then you’ll have more work to do!. Before you tackle this one, make sure you do it in a safe and careful manner. Waiting until the ground is dry is a good idea. It is also easier to scoop out dry leaves than wet leaves.
- Paint & Power-wash. A little time spent retouching chipped corners and covering impossible to clean marks in combination to power-washing is a great way to freshen up your home’s curb appeal.
